The RiverKings currently offer a variety of internships in various fields. Our interns are an integral part of what makes the RiverKings run. No coffee runs for you. Over 50% of our interns since the summer of 2012 have been offered positions in sports immediately following their internship. Previous interns have received internships or full-time positions with the following employers:

Athletic Training Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Athletic Training Intern for the summer, fall and spring terms of the 2016-17 season. The RiverKings, the longest running sports franchise in the Mid-South, celebrate their 25th season of play in October.

Position Title:
Athletic Training Intern

Reports to:
Head Athletic Trainer

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will (be):
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- General knowledge of sports injuries and anatomy
- Ability to work as a team player with the athlete, Head Athletic Trainer and the RiverKings Medical Staff
- A hard work ethic and motivation to learn new skills

Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for immediate care of injuries
- Pre/Post-game treatments
- Injury evaluation, assessment and therapy protocol.
- Accurate documentation regarding injury reports, treatment logs and rehabilitation programs
- Ordering medical supplies
- Coordinate doctor appointments and diagnostic testing
- Responsible for game night/practice preparation and clean up
- Represent the Mississippi RiverKings Hockey Club in a professional manner at all times

Compensation and Academic Credit:
Interns are compensated on sales commissions. Students should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Community Development Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek part-time, unpaid Community Development Interns. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Community Development Intern

Reports to:
Community Development Coordinator

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will (be):
- Very well organized and detail oriented
- Event planning oriented
- Have fundraising experience, or willingness to learn
- Work well with children
- Possess good public speaking skills

Responsibilities will include:
- Plan, attend and document (take photos, video) player and mascot appearances in the community
- Work with our non-profit groups to promote them, their causes and how our fans can get involved with them
- Review, process and fill donation requests
- Pitch and create new community involvement programs and ideas for the team
- Post to and manage community development content on team’s website
- Work with Puck Toss and Post-Game skate organizations on game nights

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on cash sales made. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Entertainment Production Intern

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Entertainment Production intern. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Entertainment Production Intern

Reports to:
Director of Game Operations

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will (have):
- Ability to think quickly and make immediate changes in high pressure situations
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to create new in-game content
- Knowledge of graphic design and video editing

Responsibilities will include:
- Communicate with the Landers Center on issues relating to graphics and video production
- Create a diverse music library for game nights
- Coordinate and direct the game night production
- Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor
- Ability to attend all RiverKings home games during internship term

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on cash sales made. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Entertainment Support Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek part-time, unpaid Entertainment Support Interns. The RiverKings offer internships for the fall and spring terms.

Position Title:
Entertainment Support Intern

Reports to:
Director of Game Operations

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will (have):
- Ability to think quickly and make immediate decisions in high pressure situations
- Possess excellent oral communications skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to create new in-game content
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability to skate is a benefit, but not required

Responsibilities will include:

- Report directly to Director of Game Operations and indirectly to Game Operations Intern
- Assist in distribution of marketing materials during games
- Be part of the Crown Crew promotional team
- Rolling carpets for pre-game entertainment including anthem singers and puck droppers
- Ability to attend all RiverKings home games during the internship term.

Graphic Design Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Graphic Design Intern. The RiverKings offer internships during the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Graphic Design Intern

Reports to:
Director of Game Operations

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will (have):
- Ability to think quickly and make immediate changes in high pressure situations
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to create new in-game content
- Knowledge of graphic design and video editing

Responsibilities will include:     
- Create graphic items including, but not limited to, flyers, social media graphics and in-game updates
- Collaborates on larger projects such as season tickets, programs, overall branding
- Produce mock-ups for advertising partners
- Ability to attend all RiverKings games during internship term

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on cash sales made. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Inside Sales Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek part-time Inside Sales Interns. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Inside Sales Intern

Reports to:
Season Ticket Sales & Retention Manager

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will/have:
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to work nights, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to work under tight deadlines

Responsibilities will include:     
- Organizing and creating lead generation initiatives including in-game activities
- Assist community development with community appearances
- Assisting sales staff at Fan Services table
- Assisting in game operations set-up and take-down
- Making out-going phone calls
- Must be available for all RiverKings home games during internship term

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on all cash sales. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Media Relations Internship
The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Media Relations Intern. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Media Relations Intern

Reports to:
Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will:
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Have the ability to effectively communicate to various audiences
- Work well under tight deadlines
- Be a self-starter with ability to create new content and story ideas.

Responsibilities will include: 
- Write nightly Game Notes
- Write feature stories for publication on riverkings.com and new monthly game night magazine
- Pitch story ideas for riverkings.com, game night magazine and local media
- Interview players and coaches for intermission interviews
- Participate in weekend community development appearances
- Assist with the running of all RiverKings social media platforms and website
- Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor

Compensation and Academic Credit
This is an unpaid position, however students have the opportunity to earn commissions on cash sales made. Students should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Merchandise Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Merchandise Intern. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Merchandise Intern

Reports to:
Merchandise Manager

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will:
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Have the ability to effectively communicate to various audiences
- Work well under tight deadlines
- Ability to take direction

Responsibilities will include:     
- Assist the merchandise store on game nights
- Assist in inventory management
- Stocking merchandise store
- Manage inventory for online orders
- Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on cash sales made. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.

Ticket Operations Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Ticket Operations Intern. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms.

Position Title:
Ticket Operations Intern

Reports to:
Ticketing Manager

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will:
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to work nights, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Prior experience with ticketing software preferred, but not required

Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in game night ticket operations
- Supervision of the main box office windows
- Organizing and maintaining will call
- Process complementary tickets for players and staff
- Assist in ticket reconciliation and nightly reports
- Assist sales staff at Fan Services table
- Assist in game operations set-up and take-down
- Make out-going phone calls
- Must be available for all RiverKings games during internship term

Compensation and Academic Credit:
This is an unpaid position, however interns have the opportunity to earn commissions on all cash sales. Interns should pursue academic credit within their major or as an elective.
